Accessibility

We want the portal to work for everyone, including people who use assistive technology.

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1), level AA. This is what is already in place:

  • The site can be used entirely with a keyboard. The first link on every page jumps straight to the main content.
  • Headings, navigation and the main content are marked up so that screen readers recognise them.
  • There are light and dark themes; by default the site follows your device setting.
  • Animations are switched off if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Tables in articles turn into cards on narrow screens, so you do not have to scroll sideways.

Known limitations

  • The interactive map on the home page is awkward with a screen reader. The same countries are also listed next to it.
  • Some pages do not have an English translation yet — the page says so.

Report a problem

If something on the site does not work for you, write to [email protected]. Tell us the page and, if you can, the device or assistive technology you use.
